If my suspicion is correct, the barrel was manufactured by Marlin for Remington in 1964. The only titbit I was able to find is that Marlin Firearms (Part of Remington) used similar date codes: This chart ( ) only seems to apply to Model 700's and it still stops with the 535XXXX series. If the "H" is actually the year marking on the wrong side of the barrel, that would make it a 1987 model. However, on the right side of my barrel there is an "H" where the test mark should be. There is not much clarification on the internet if that applies to the Model 700 and/or Model 7.Īccording to this, the letter code should be on left side. Thank you, but those don't apply as I do not have a letter code suffix on the serial number.Ħ digits were used up until 1963 and 7 digits until ~1978.
